Winthrop Awarded Safe-T Cert

Safe-T-Cert is pleased to announce that the Construction Health & Safety Scheme (CHAS) in the UK has recently registered it's first Safe-T-Cert Certified company from the Republic of Ireland. Irish contractors working in the UK will be familiar with the fact that CHAS offers a 'tool for use' in the Health and Safety element of pre-qualification.

Having reviewed the assessment criteria and standards used in the Safe-T-Cert audit, the CHAS National Management Board have agreed contractors or consultants can be registered with CHAS without assessment if they have Safe-T-Cert. This is welcome news for Irish Contractors, certified to Safe-T-Cert, seeking to work anywhere in England.

About CHAS
Contractors seek to work, on a regular basis, from a multiplicity of public and private sector organisations in the UK. Naturally, assessing a contractors compliance is a lengthy and time consuming process so, therefore, the CHAS scheme was set up to reduce duplication, as contractor's compliance is accepted by all CHAS buyers. CHAS has more than 400 buyer organisations, NHS Trusts, including a growing number of large private companies who employ sub-contractors.

In 1997 a group of Health and Safety procurement professionals from across England worked with the Association of London Government (ALG) to develop CHAS. Participating in the CHAS scheme by cntractors, shows compliance with important parts of Health and Safety law including the core criteria described in the Construction Design and Management regulations (UK Health & Safety legislation).

This is another important milestone for international recognition of Safe-T-Cert, which can now add CHAS to an ongoing list of international accolades, such as International Register of Certified Auditors, the Olympic Delivery Authority (London 2012) to its list.
